Neuroinflammation in COVID-19:
Research indicates that SARS-CoV-2 infection can lead to neuroinflammation, affecting brain regions essential for functions such as memory, learning, and emotional responses. Studies have observed microglial activation and the expression of inflammatory cytokines like interleukin (IL)-1β and IL-6 in the brains of individuals with COVID-19. These inflammatory responses can disrupt brain vasculature integrity, neurotransmission, and neurogenesis, potentially contributing to cognitive deficits observed in COVID-19 patients. pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov
Potential Benefits of Cerebrolysin for LONG COVID:
Cerebrolysin has been investigated for its ability to modulate neuroinflammation and promote neuronal regeneration. In the context of COVID-19, its potential benefits include:
- Neuroprotective Effects: Cerebrolysin may help reduce neuroinflammation by modulating the activity of microglia, the brain’s resident immune cells. This modulation can potentially alleviate the inflammatory responses induced by SARS-CoV-2 infection.
- Enhancement of Neuronal Regeneration: By promoting neuronal regeneration, Cerebrolysin may aid in repairing brain regions affected by COVID-19-related neuroinflammation, thereby improving cognitive functions.
Considerations:
While preliminary studies suggest that Cerebrolysin may offer neuroprotective benefits in the context of COVID-19, further research, including clinical trials, is necessary to confirm its efficacy and safety. Patients should consult with healthcare providers before considering Cerebrolysin as a treatment option for COVID-19-related neuroinflammation.
QUICK NOTE on Cerebrolysin and Cancer:
Antitumor Potential:
A study conducted on mice with Lewis lung carcinoma evaluated Cerebrolysin’s impact on tumor growth and metastasis. The findings revealed that Cerebrolysin administration led to a significant suppression of tumor growth rates by 10-15% and a dose-dependent reduction in the number of large metastases by 30-50%. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov
Protection Against Chemotherapy-Induced Cognitive Impairment:
Chemotherapy-induced cognitive impairment, often referred to as “chemobrain,” affects a substantial number of cancer patients undergoing treatment. Research involving mice treated with the chemotherapy agent carmustine demonstrated that Cerebrolysin administration improved cognitive functions, reduced oxidative stress markers, decreased inflammatory cytokine levels, and restored neurotransmitter concentrations. These results suggest that Cerebrolysin may offer neuroprotective benefits to mitigate cognitive deficits associated with chemotherapy. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov
Considerations:
While these preliminary findings are promising, it’s important to note that the current body of research is limited, primarily involving animal models. Further studies, including clinical trials with human participants, are necessary to comprehensively understand Cerebrolysin’s efficacy and safety profile in cancer-related applications. Patients should consult with their healthcare providers before considering Cerebrolysin as part of their treatment regimen.

Mechanism of Action: How Does Cerebrolysin Work?
Neurotrophic Activity – Mimicking Growth Factors
Cerebrolysin acts similarly to endogenous neurotrophic factors, which are essential for neuron survival, differentiation, and repair. It enhances:
✅ Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF):
- Promotes synaptic plasticity (crucial for learning and memory).
- Increases long-term potentiation (LTP), the mechanism behind memory formation.
✅ Nerve Growth Factor (NGF):
- Supports survival and function of cholinergic neurons (critical for memory, impaired in Alzheimer’s).
- Promotes axon regeneration and dendritic branching.
✅ Glial Cell Line-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (GDNF):
- Protects dopaminergic neurons (important in Parkinson’s disease).
- Aids motor recovery after stroke or injury.
✅ Ciliary Neurotrophic Factor (CNTF):
- Supports neurogenesis and oligodendrocyte survival (important for myelin repair).
✅ Insulin-Like Growth Factor-1 (IGF-1) Fragments:
- Stimulates neuronal regeneration and repair post-injury.
- Enhances brain metabolism and energy production.
🚀 Impact:
Cerebrolysin replicates the effects of multiple neurotrophic factors simultaneously, promoting brain repair, synaptic connectivity, and neuroplasticity.
Neuroprotection – Shielding the Brain from Damage
Cerebrolysin provides strong neuroprotective effects, helping neurons survive against:
✅ Excitotoxicity (Glutamate Toxicity):
- Inhibits excessive NMDA receptor activation, preventing neuronal damage.
✅ Oxidative Stress:
- Reduces free radical damage by enhancing endogenous antioxidant defenses.
- Preserves mitochondrial function, preventing energy deficits.
✅ Apoptosis (Programmed Cell Death):
- Inhibits caspase activation, preventing neurodegeneration.
- Promotes anti-apoptotic proteins like Bcl-2, keeping neurons alive.
✅ Neuroinflammation Modulation:
- Reduces overactivation of microglia, preventing chronic inflammation.
- Decreases pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-1β, TNF-α), protecting neurons.
🚀 Impact:
Cerebrolysin protects neurons from inflammation, oxidative stress, and apoptosis, making it beneficial for stroke, Alzheimer’s, traumatic brain injury, and neurodegeneration.
Enhancing Synaptic Plasticity & Cognitive Function
Cerebrolysin enhances synaptic plasticity, which is crucial for learning, memory, and cognitive flexibility. It does this by:
✅ Increasing Dendritic Spine Density:
- Strengthens synaptic connections, improving memory formation.
✅ Enhancing Long-Term Potentiation (LTP):
- Boosts synaptic strength, critical for learning and memory storage.
✅ Modulating Key Neurotransmitters:
- Dopamine → Enhances motivation, focus, and mood (useful for ADHD & depression).
- Acetylcholine → Improves memory and attention (critical in Alzheimer’s).
- Glutamate/GABA balance → Regulates excitatory/inhibitory balance for mental clarity.
🚀 Impact:
Cerebrolysin enhances cognitive performance, memory consolidation, and mental clarity, making it effective for ADHD, brain fog, and cognitive decline.
Neurogenesis – Stimulating Brain Repair & Growth
Cerebrolysin promotes neurogenesis (growth of new neurons), particularly in the hippocampus, the brain’s memory center.
✅ Increases Neural Stem Cell Differentiation:
- Encourages new neurons to develop, aiding brain repair after injury.
✅ Boosts Myelination & Axonal Growth:
- Helps restore white matter integrity, critical for processing speed.
🚀 Impact:
Cerebrolysin supports brain recovery after stroke, traumatic brain injury, and neurodegeneration.
Enhancing Brain Metabolism & Energy Production

DOSING:
(Educational Purpose ONLY – Project Biohacked LLC – Always consult your physician before making any changes to your medical treatment plan)
Subcutaneous (SC) Administration (Lower Doses, More Frequent Use)
SC administration is an emerging approach for self-administration and long-term use at lower doses.
Standard SC Dosing Guidelines
- Microdosing protocol: 1–2 mL per injection, daily or every other day, for 4–6 weeks
- Moderate protocol: 2–5 mL per injection, 5 days per week, for 4–8 weeks
- Intensive protocol (TBI, Stroke Recovery): 5–10 mL per injection, daily for 10–20 days, then taper
SC injections are best administered in the abdomen, thighs, or upper arms, rotating sites to avoid irritation.
Intramuscular (IM) Administration (Alternative to IV)
IM administration is widely used in outpatient settings and self-administration protocols.
Standard IM Dosing Guidelines
- Mild cognitive enhancement: 1–5 mL per day for 10–30 days
- Neurodegenerative conditions (Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s): 5–10 mL daily for 20–30 days
- TBI / stroke recovery: 10–20 mL daily for 10–30 days
Best practice: IM injections should be rotated between different muscle groups (glutes, deltoid, or thigh) to prevent irritation.
Cyclic Protocol for Long-Term Use
For chronic neurodegenerative diseases, cognitive enhancement, or stroke recovery, a cyclic approach is often used:
- Cycle length: 4–6 weeks of daily or alternate-day dosing
- Break period: 4–8 weeks off before restarting
- Number of cycles per year: 2–3 cycles annually for long-term benefits
This allows the body to maintain neuroplasticity benefits while avoiding desensitization to the treatment.
Full Dosage Range for Cerebrolysin:
- “Microdose” – Test Dose (.25ml – .5ml): good test dose for those who are highly “chemical sensitive”, Mold – CIRs, Lyme
- Low – Moderate Dose(1ml): good test dose for those who prefer to start low to gauge tolerance
- Moderate Dose (2ml): good dose for healthy individuals who rarely have any sensitivities – reactions
- Moderate High(5ml): healthy subjects w/ no sensitivities or slowly TITRATED UP TO
- High (10ml+): you are bulletproof, rarely ever react to anything or slowly TITRATED UP TO
Notes on my personal usage – Approach:
The following is for INFORMATIONAL Purposes only, this is NOT MEDICAL advice, I AM NOT a medical professional, please consult with your physician before making any changes to your medical treatment plan.
- Being someone who is EXTREMELY sensitive to exogenous compounds I had to go with a very conservative approach.
- This is also the approach I typically recommend to clients – community
- Start LOW Start Slow
- Using the above Dosage range LOW for myself was just .5ml was PLENTY
- Even at just .5ml I had day of brain fog – mild head pressure thats COMMON with neurogenic compounds like Cerebrolysin. People have also reported feeling fatigued and even irritable.
- Which YES those side effects do not sound appealing but I also noticed when the side effects went away I felt better overall. I noticed this rather quickly and this is what MAY happen for some who responds extremely well like myself.
- Those side effects for myself only occurred during first couple dosages and or when I dosed to HIGH and or to frequently.
- So I DID NOT stick to a traditional dosing approach like laid out by the manufacturer EVERPHARMA. If I did a traditional protocol of 2-5ml for 30 days the brain fog would have been significant along with myriad of other side effects.
MY PERSONAL Approach:
- .5ml first test dose
- I had brain fog, some fatigue and irritability that day which happens to some but NOT EVERYONE
- I essentially would wait until I felt back at baseline before dosing again.
- Which means I typically would only dose 3-4x per week or even less.
- I did this for longer cycles because the benefits were so great honestly I just didn’t want to stop and felt I was much lower on the dosage. I am NOT saying I advise this its just what I did.
- I slowly over the first year titrated to doses as high as 10ml. But my “sweet spot” was typically 2ml-5ml couple times per week and I was able to maintain very high mental performance. I also felt lasting benefits from the cycles. But I am ADD/ADHD, have history of TBI and issues with anxiety. So this tool just happened to be a perfect fit and likely was healing some damage and imbalances. However I have heard from other high performers that they also felt fantastic benefits. So it can be for those simply looking to achieve their peak potential performance wise.
- My cycles went much longer but it’s not something I recommend unless you have carefully weighed the pros and potential cons. I have never experienced negatives but there is a side effect profile that should be fully evaluated.
Quick Summary:
- Start Low and Slow
- Test Dose – Gauge tolerance and response
- Titrate dose and frequency until you reach max benefits with minimal side effects
- What that may look like per person will vary greatly and is highly dependent on primary goals and or condition looking to treat!
- Ive now cycled Cerebrolysin for 4+ years and it’s one of my all time favorite tools. I have countless reports now that it’s equally life changing for others.
- Again NOT for everyone has this experience but when theres a low risk potentially high reward tool that could change somones life then I like to talk about it!! 🙂
Clinical studies investigating Cerebrolysin have typically administered the treatment for durations ranging from 4 to 21 days. For instance, a double-blind, placebo-controlled, multicenter study assessed the efficacy and safety of Cerebrolysin over a 4-week (28-day) period in patients with probable Alzheimer’s disease.
Similarly, in the Cerebrolysin and Recovery After Stroke (CARS) trial, the treatment period extended up to 21 days.
These durations are among the longest reported in clinical trials evaluating Cerebrolysin’s efficacy and safety.

What about PRIONS risk?
Regarding Cerebrolysin, there is no scientific evidence to suggest that it contains prions or could lead to prion-related diseases. Cerebrolysin is a mixture of peptides and amino acids derived from porcine brain tissue, and while it is a biologically active substance, it does not appear to possess the properties that could cause prion diseases.
Key points to consider:
- Manufacturing Process: Cerebrolysin undergoes a rigorous manufacturing process designed to ensure safety, including filtration and purification steps. The risk of prion contamination is extremely low due to these controls.
- Regulatory Approval: Cerebrolysin has been approved in multiple countries for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, and there have been no reports of prion-related side effects associated with its use.
- Scientific Literature: There is no evidence in the scientific literature indicating that Cerebrolysin could cause prion diseases. The potential risks of prions are more associated with diseases like CJD or other transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSEs), which are distinct from the known effects of Cerebrolysin.
Therefore, while the theoretical risk of prion formation exists with any substance derived from animal tissues, it is considered highly unlikely with Cerebrolysin due to the lack of evidence and the extensive processing involved in its production. Nonetheless, as with any medical treatment, it is important to use Cerebrolysin under the guidance of a healthcare professional.
Conclusion:
While Cerebrolysin is generally considered safe and well-tolerated, individuals may experience a range of side effects, from mild to severe. It is crucial to consult with a healthcare provider before starting treatment to ensure proper monitoring and management of any adverse reactions.

Project Biohacked Mission Statement:
It is important to me that people understand my WHY. I want people to fully understand what I am trying to do with the Project Biohacked brand.
This is relevant to peptides since they are one of the tools that forever changed my life for the better and restored my hope I could fully recover my health!
My reason WHY has everything to do with my own at times extremely difficult health journey.
This life has not always been an easy ride for myself, I have experienced levels of suffering with my own health physically and mentally that I wouldn’t wish upon my worst enemy.
I have been left broken and feeling hopeless from those struggles at the worst points in my life. I have been told by the conventional medical system there’s nothing I can do. That pharmaceutical drugs to suppress symptoms are the only way to manage my struggles.
I have hit that wall in my health over and over again where I felt like I was out of options and destined to suffer through this life.
I also know I am not the only one who has gone through and or still has these chronic struggles. I know countless others suffer in silence, bearing a burden that no one even knows about. Too many suffer in silence especially with mental health and or addiction struggles. This includes myself.
I have lost loved ones to physical illness and mental health struggles. I think we all know someone who didn’t make it past their physical/mental health struggle. We all have lost people we love. I have seen far too many suffer horribly from these chronic health struggles when the tools to help are available and accessible NOW.
I have been to the bottom with my health….. but I have also been to the top!
I have experienced the joy of not just recovering physical and mental health but getting to experience all new highs with both. Having the luxury to shift my focus from chronic health to anti aging and chasing peak physical/mental performance!!
I have been able to recover and go on to experience days, months and years feeling good again. Days where I have felt happy, at peace and content with life. Days I have been able to be fully present with loved ones and just enjoy the simple things in life.
This is something I wish everyone would get to experience as much as possible in their lives.
I am lucky to have fully recovered from the worst of my health struggles, I am lucky to still be here today, to see my kids grow and be there for my family.
Far too many lose that battle because they lose HOPE. They lose hope because they feel like theres nothing that can help. They believe theres no end to their suffering.
Thankfully I learned this is not TRUE!! There are amazing tools that can get not just RELIEF but actual healing! Far too many of these amazing tools people simply do not know exist!
Luckily I found some of these amazing tools that kept that hope alive.
Somehow I found a way to survive my health crisis and I made the decision then that I would leave no stone left unturned in this life to not just recover my health but to find the tools to ensure I NEVER experienced that level of suffering again.
I committed myself to try to LEARN EVERYTHING in regard’s to healing the mind, body and spirit. I would study every facet of medicine, I would try everything that I could afford and access.
My promise to myself was if I somehow did recover my health I would reach back to try and help others.
I would share my story, I would share what helped me and I would make it my mission to try and help others struggling. I would leave a roadmap for those suffering. A roadmap and guide that could possibly help restore hope of better days.
I decided to try and create the resource that I wish existed when my health fell apart.
A resource that could quickly get someone to the tools that can make all the difference in their health struggles and goals. A resource that helped restore HOPE that just maybe better days were still possible.
A resource that shares the tools buried far beyond the conventional medical and health system. The “tools” that can change lives but many don’t know even exist.
It took me over 15 years of relentless research trial and error to find all of the tools to aid in my recovery.
Few have that kind of time, resources and energy to take on.
My goal is to help accelerate that process for people. Get people pointed to the life changing tools much earlier in their journey. Hopefully prevent some from experiencing the horrible lows I did in my own health.
At the end of my days I hope to have created a massive DIY health resource that can change lives for the better.
Help people get to experience their true potential, become the best versions of themselves. Help pass along tools that can aid people and the people they love/care about most.
The mission that will never end is to hunt down and share all the best tools in health and wellness. To refine and update these resources every year as better tools and understanding emerges for all ranges of chronic health struggles/recovery.
The focus will go beyond just chronic health struggles, it will deep dive into physical performance and mental performance. Anti aging and the best sustainable practices to feel our best for the longest period of time possible in this life.
What I LOVE is bringing light to not just the best tools but the best practitioners, the best coaches and clinics. The people who understand how to pull all the best tools together to change lives for the better. Bring together and share what I learn from the best minds in health and wellness.
The goal is to create a massive network that can continue to pass these tools to others long after I’m gone.
That is my mission, that is the reason I do what I do 🙂
I love networking with other health professionals, coaches and biohackers so feel free to reach out if interested in doing a podcast or partnering on a project 🙂
